There has been a growing appeal for farmers to use sexed semen in order to reduce the number of bull calves produced from the dairy herd. With the value of dairy bull calves very low, the need for a reliable sexed semen product has never been greater.
Some farmers have been apprehensive about using it, with an increased cost and a lower conception rate to first service being major deterrents.
