Plainer cattle easier by €10-€20/head at Carnew

Carnew’s general cattle sale on Saturday, September 12th attracted an entry of 830 cattle and 40 calves, according to David Quinn.

He reported that trade remained “very strong” for quality continental lots and all classes of beef cattle. “Lighter, plainer Friesian-bred cattle were easier by €10-€20/head.”

Summary:

  • Beef & forward bullocks – €1110 – €1740 or €1.85 – €2.26/kg;
  • Continental store bullocks – €880- €1460 or €1.98 – €2.52/kg;
  • HE/AA bullocks – €640 – €1160 or €1.68 – €2.14/kg;
  • FR bullocks – €450 – €960 or €1.24 – €1.68/kg;
  • Beef heifers – €1060 – €1520 or €1.88 – €2.31/kg;
  • Continental store heifers – €700 – €1220 or €1.91 – €2.77/kg;
  • HE/AA store heifers – €550-€980 or €1.77 – €2.08/kg;
  • Weanling bulls – €750 – €1290 or €1.92 – €2.75/kg.
