A commercial weanling heifer, sired by a Derryowen Harvey son, could be yours for €15.
This Charolais-cross November-born female is the most recent prize being offered by DC Farm Competitions.
A total of 150 entries are available for the “show-type” heifer, with the draw set to take place when all tickets are sold.
Daniel Conway, founder of the start-up, said the heifer weighs in excess of 400kgs and is ready for breeding.
The last competition sold out in less than 24 hours.
To date, farmers from across the island of Ireland have won a selectin of high-end in-clave and maiden breeding females, both pedigree and commercial-types, along with bale wrap and a ram.
How does it work?
The new online platform, which holds weekly competitions, has stemmed from Daniel Conway’s life-long passion for breeding superior cattle.
The agricultural-orientated competitions website allows farmers to be in with the chance of winning quality livestock by paying a small entry fee which is a fraction of their value.
Users are required to log onto – www.dcfarmcompetitions.com – where they select a competition of their choice.
They then click ‘enter’ to purchase a ticket and are required to answer a question to qualify and complete payment. They are then entered into the draw in question and receive email confirmation with a ticket number.
The winner of each competition is selected using a random number generator and announced during a Facebook livestream. The competition provider will contact winners and organise transfer and collection arrangements.
