Orchard Veterinary Centre Armagh attended an on-farm call last week whereby a heifer calf was born with part of her intestines herniated through her umbilicus.
“They were healthy with a good blood supply and clean as they were still inside the umbilical sac, so she was a perfect candidate for surgery.” the veterinary centre explained in a post on Facebook.
“We were able to make an incision big enough to replace her intestines and it all came together neatly. Hopefully, she’ll not be hanging out like this again.” the post concluded.
