Over 7,600 more beef calves born this year

Total calf registrations now stand at 2,022,120, an increase of over 56,100 on the corresponding period last year, according to the ICBF’s database. 

It has provided the following breakdown across each category for the period up to the week ending July 3rd:  

Pedigree registrations:

  • Week ending July 3rd, 2020: 741
  • Corresponding period in 2019: 673

AE (animal events) registrations:

  • Week ending July 3rd, 2020: 11,577
  • Corresponding period in 2019: 12,764

Total beef births:

  • Week ending July 3rd, 2020: 14,618
  • Corresponding period in 2019: 15,719

Total dairy births:

  • Week ending July 3rd, 2020: 6,506;
  • Corresponding period in 2019: 6,867;

Total birth registrations:

  • Week ending July 3rd, 2020: 21,124;
  • Corresponding period in 2019: 22,586.
