PHOTOS: Online machinery clearance auction this evening

Michael Doyle Auctions is hosting an online machinery clearance auction, as instructed by the reps of the late Ned (Edward) Allen, Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow, this evening (Monday, February 15th).

A selection of tractors, loaders, trailers, silage trailers, mowers, dung spreaders, agitators, and loader implements will go under the hammer from 7 pm this evening via MartEye.

Speaking to That’s Farming, auctioneer, Michael Doyle, said:

“There is a good selection on the clearance auction of about 85 lots in total, but then there are other items include garage tools, chainsaws and compressors. In terms of the outside lots, there is a selection of trailers diggers, farm and plant machinery.”

“When we come to each lot, a photo will come up on the MartEye app. Furthermore, I will give a brief description of each item. On some of the bigger items, there will be up to five pictures.”

“Commission is added onto the hammer prices. It is 10% under a €1,000 and 5% over a €1,000. There is a nice selection of genuine machinery in this sale; there seems to be a huge interest in the auction in the last few days.”

“We had a gentleman from Australia bidding at an auction in December. If you have the app on your phone, you can look at it online from anywhere. 10-15% of items would have gone to the UK in our previous auction.”

Customer base

Doyle’s most recent auctions have garnered more than 500 customers, whereas, they generally, attract between 100-120 clients. His business is among those who have benefitted from the increased usage of technology during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With the range of 32 counties, we are getting better prices. The clearance has moved from probably 65% up to 94-95%. So, the whole thing has just changed. Covid or no Covid, you just will not see it going back to a totally live auction.”

“Especially with the results we are getting at the moment and the interest. It is like having 500-600 people standing in from of you pressing buttons, which has just changed everything dramatically from our business point of view.” Doyle concluded.
