Online and ringside buyers active at Ballinrobe

Cattle numbers at Ballinrobe Mart described what mart manager, Tom McGuire, described as “surprisingly big for the time of year” at its sale on Wednesday (July 8th) last.

“With plenty of buyers present and online, trade was vibrant throughout the day.”

Heifers:

  • A Charolais-X – 445kg – €1080 or €2.43/kg;
  • An Aberdeen Angus-X – 485 kg – €1000 or €2.06/kg;
  • A Limousin-X – 470 kg – €1060 or €2.26/kg;
  • A Charolais-X – 345 kg – €935 or €2.71/kg.

Bullocks:

  • 2 Aberdeen Angus sold together – 505 kg – €1090 or €2.16/kg;
  • A Charolais-X – 485 kg – €1120 or €2.31/kg;
  • A Limousin-X – 370 kg – €940 or €2.54/kg.

Weanling bulls:

  • A Charolais – 290 kg – €820 or €2.23/kg.

Dry cows and suckler pairs:

  • A Simmental-X – 715 kg – €1260 or €1.76/kg;
  • A Limousin cow with a Charolais bull calf at foot – €1560.

Sheep

“Sheep numbers on Thursday’s are increasing each week with the trade holding very firm and plenty of customers for store lambs.”

All sheep are weighed and sold through the ring with an online system also in place, the mart manager added.
