New hydraulic front linkage allowing front mower to ‘swivel’

CLAAS and Hans Sauter GmbH have collaborated to create a new front-linkage system that will be able to swivel thanks to new hydraulic lower links.

The system is aimed at those using front and rear-mounted mower combinations.

Hydraulic swivel

In a statement for the new piece of technology, a spokesperson stated that this significantly reduces or even completely eliminates strips of grass being left when negotiating bends and mowing on slopes.

Hydraulically shiftable rear mowers have been available on the market for a number of years and this new innovation will complement those in allowing improved reactions to changes in cutting width when negotiating bends and mowing on slopes.

The hydraulic linkage is capable of swivelling up to 30cm from centre in both directions and a double-acting service is required so that it can be controlled by a spool valve.

These links are secured by a locking block for road transport and can be folded upwards and fixed in place like normal lower links when they are not needed.

The product is manufactured by Sauter and designed in collaboration with engineers from the CLAAS Green Harvest machinery factory.

According to the manufacturer, the hydraulically swivelling lower links can slot into the standard lower link holders, which also enables retrofitting without major space restrictions.

Fitting

The kit does not require any structural changes to the front mower, which means that both new and older mower units of all types are suitable for operation with the retrofitting kit.

These new kits are pre-fitted for use with CLAAS DISCO mowers and are suitable for use with CLAAS AXION 900 and 800 series tractors, as well as Fendt 900, 800 and 700 tractors.

The swivelling hitch is available in limited supply for 2020 and full supply in 2021. The CLAAS dealer network is responsible for ordering direct from Sauter and for installation.
