Motorcyclist (40s) dies after collision with jeep and tractor

A male motorcyclist (late 40s) has died following a collision with a jeep and tractor.

The serious road traffic collision occurred on N14 between Dry Arch roundabout and the Port Road roundabout this evening (Sunday, July 25th, 2021).

Motorcyclist dies 

Gardaí from Letterkenny attended the scene of the incident at approximately 4:55 pm.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“He [the motorcyclist] was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Letterkenny in a critical condition, where he later passed away.”

“The male driver of the jeep was uninjured. The driver of the tractor was taken to hospital to receive medical attention. His injuries are non-life-threatening.”

The scene is currently preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting their examination.

Appeal for witnesses

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Gardaí ask any road users who were travelling on the N14 this evening between the Dry Arch and Port Road roundabouts and who may have camera footage, including dashcam, to make this available to them.

Two hospitalised after trailer detaches from tractor

Last month, we reported that two individuals were hospitalised after a trailer disconnected from a tractor and collided with an oncoming vehicle in Co Kildare.

The incident, footage of which has appeared on social media, occurred on Main Street, Sallins, earlier this week.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, said:

“Gardaí are investigating a road traffic collision that occurred on Main Street, Sallins on Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 at 7.15pm.”

“A trailer disconnected from a tractor and collided with an oncoming vehicle. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
