Two livestock marts in Northern Ireland have announced that they will close until further notice.
The action is being taken by Saintfield Livestock Mart and Armoy Livestock Mart as concerns over the spread of Covid-19 continue to grow.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Armoy Livestock Mart said: “Due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus) we have taken the decision to close the mart until further notice.”
“Health is more important. We appreciate your understanding and if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
In a statement on Monday (March 16th), a spokesperson for Saintfield Livestock Mart “In the interest of health and safety of our customers and staff relating to the Covid-19 updates this evening, we regret that Saintfield Livestock Mart is to close with immediate effect.”
“Sheep and cattle sales are postponed until further notice. It is a very worrying and testing time.”
“Our customers, our staff and their family’s health are our main priority. We appreciate your understanding.” the spokesperson concluded.
