Irish technology company, LSL Auctions, has been awarded the contract of Online Auction and Broadcasting Platform to FEDERACION ESPAÑOLA DE ASOCIACIONES DE GANADO SELECTO (FEAGAS) (SPANISH FEDERATION OF SELECTED (PEDIGREE) LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATIONS) with the support of the Ministry of Spain.
Earlier this year, FEAGAS went out to tender for an online platform and broadcasting provider. After vetting companies across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the United States, LSL Auctions was awarded the agreement.
The arrangement covers all of Spain as online auction and broadcasting provider for the sale of all pedigree livestock (horses, cattle, sheep, goats and poultry).
The LSL platform has been converted into Spanish and a new area dedicated to Spain for the contract. Many amendments have been made to facilitate the Spanish agreement.
First LSL auction in Spain
Last Saturday, December 19th, saw the first Spanish online auction broadcasting under the new agreement. 43 lots lined up from various pedigree cattle societies across the country. Four auctioneers were in attendance at the auction started broadcasting live at 12 noon local time.
Speaking after the auction, which was held outside Madrid, CEO of Irish-based, LSL Auctions, Brendan Hannigan said:

Ireland’s first virtual cattle mart
Ireland’s first completely virtual livestock sale took place at Carnaross Mart in April of this year.
The mart, which opened its doors just outside Kells in Co. Meath in the 1960s, sees almost 2,000 cattle and sheep go under the hammer weekly.
Livestock Live (LSL) provide in-house software to marts around Ireland for the last two years. They have developed a platform which provides mart software and allows remote online bidding, video streaming and an online document solution.
“In other words, a ‘farmer-free online livestock mart,” Hannigan explained.
