Little change in beef quotes

Figures from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s database show that 39,981 cattle were processed during the week commencing February 17th.

Breakdown:

  • Young bulls: 4,252;
  • Bulls: 690;
  • Steers: 13,385;
  • Cows: 7,019;
  • Heifers: 11,458.

37,812 cattle were slaughtered during the corresponding week last year. 

Quotes

Factories are quoting a base price of €3.65-€3.70/kg for steers, while a base of €3.70-€3.75/kg is being paid for heifers.

Young bulls, O/R/U grades are ranging from €3.40/€3.70/kg, depending on the plant, while between €2.90-€3.45/kg is being forked out for cull cows.
