‘Lightning activity and heavy rainfall possible’

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow thunder warning for Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow.

The alert is valid from 2pm this afternoon (Thursday, August 27th) until 9pm on Thursday (August 27th).

“Localised thunderstorms with lightning activity and heavy rainfall possible this afternoon and evening.” the national forecaster warned.

Rainfall warning

Meanwhile, Leinster and Munster are currently being placed under a status yellow rainfall warning.

Given recent heavy rainfall, this will further elevate river levels and may result in river flooding also, according to Met Éireann.
