How many cattle were slaughtered during the second week of 2020?

Figures from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s database shows that 34,599 cattle were slaughtered during the week commencing January 6th.

Breakdown:

  • Bulls: 590;
  • Steers: 11,121;
  • Cows: 6,342;
  • Heifers: 11,086.

Factory quotes

Factories are quoting €3.60-€3.65/kg for steers and heifers this week, while cull cow quotes are ranging from €2.80-€3.40/kg; between €3.30-€3.60/kg is being paid for young bulls.
