Calves make from €100-€180/head at Kilrush Mart

Kilrush Mart report – cattle prices – 12-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, a larger entry went under the hammer at Kilrush Mart on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021.

They reported that a “small number of calves met a fine trade”.

“Friesian bulls made €100 to €150. Hereford-cross calves made €130 to €175 and Aberdeen Angus calves €150 to €180.”

“Cull cows meet a fine trade again. Mostly young cattle available in the bullock and heifer rings,” the spokesperson added.

Cull cow prices:                             

  • HEX – 490kgs – €740 – €1.51/kg;
  • LMX – 565kgs – €1,050 – €1.86/kg;
  • FR – 625kgs – €880 – €1.41/kg ;
  • CHX – 695kgs – €1,140 – €1.64/kg;
  • FR – 625kgs – €900 – €1.44/kg ;
  • FRX – 580kgs – €900 – €1.55/kg.

Heifer prices:

  • LMX – 270kgs – €790 – €2.92/kg;
  • HEX – 370kgs – €770 – €2.08/kg;
  • CHX – 345kgs – €890 – €2.57/kg;
  • CHX – 310kgs – €750 – €2.42/kg;
  • HEX – 360kgs – €790 – €2.10/kg;
  • 2 HEX – 255kgs – €580 – €2.27/kg.

Bullock prices:

  • LMX – 295kgs – €820 – €2.78/kg;
  • 2 HEX – 407kgs – €900 – €2.21/kg;
  • LIM – 335kgs – €840 – €2.51/kg;
  • SHX – 640kgs – €1,250 – €1.95/kg;

According to a spokesperson, cull cows met with a “strong” trade at Kilrush Mart on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021.

They reported that “quite a number of young stock” went under the hammer at the general cattle sale.

“Much smaller sale as some people holding off in anticipation of people being allowed back in the rings.”

“A number of calves available and these meet a fine trade with Friesian bulls making €80 to €145.  AA calves made €100 to €170 and Hereford-crosses calves made €135 to €365,” the spokesperson added.
