Trade ‘finishes on a high note’ in Kilmallock

Cattle Prices – Kilmallock Mart – 19-12-2022

According to a spokesperson for Kilmallock Mart, its 2022 trading season “finished on a high note” with the sale of 400 cattle last Monday, December 19^th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that “cattle prices rose” at its final sale of the year.

Bullocks changed hands for up to €1,700 each or €2.91 per kg, while cull cow cows made up to €1,510 each or €2.30 per kg, heifers hit €1,580/head or €3.28 per kg and runners peaked at €580.

A spokesperson told That’s Farming:

“We had a very successful coffee morning and festive singing from the students of Scoil Mocheallog.”

“CEO, Maurice Lyons, spoke about a very good year at Kilmallock Mart with numbers up substantially which was due to both buyers and sellers at the mart each week.”

“He thanked everyone for their business in 2022. The first animal for sale was donated by the mart, with all proceeds going to the neonatal unit in the Maternity Hospital Limerick & Kilmallock Social Services.”

“The management and staff would like to wish all our clients a very happy Christmas and health & happiness for 2023. Kilmallock reopens on Monday, January 9^th, 2022,” the spokesperson concluded.
