‘Plainer-type cattle tended to be slightly cheaper’

Kilkenny Mart – 16-03-2022 – Cattle Prices

According to George Candler, some 750 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a change in sale day resulted in a smaller sale.

Overall, bullocks peaked at €2,300, while heifers topped out at €1,960 at its general cattle sale,

He outlined that trade “remained very strong” forward stores and beef-type bullocks and heifers.

“Some plainer-type cattle tended to be slightly cheaper. Plain cattle tended to attract fewer customers with grass growth and ground conditions needing to improve,” he explained.
