Monday, March 9th, saw a slight fall in prices at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale, according to George Candler.
The mart’s auctioneer outlined that some heavy hoggets reduced by €2-€4/head compared to the previous week.
He noted that ewes performed well, however, with a top call of €151/head for heavy-types.
Butcher’s lambs – €2.50-€2.88/kg or €122-€141/head;

Factory lambs – €2.40-€2.57/kg or €105-€120/head;
