Plainer cattle ‘more difficult to get away’ – Candler

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 31-03-2022

According to George Candler, some 1,450 lots passed through the rings at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, March 31st, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that beef and forward-type store cattle sold “very well” in both the heifer and bullock ring.

Meanwhile, plain, lighter Friesians were “more difficult to sell” with purchasers anxious to secure short-keep animals.

He noted that “fancy, light stores also sold well, but plain Friesians and less-type Hereford, Angus and continental lots were more difficult to get away”.
