‘Potential buyers are getting more selective, especially for the plainer-type animals’

Kilkenny Mart report – cattle prices – 29-07-2021

According to George Candler, a smaller entry comprising just over 800 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, July 29th.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that plainer cattle were more difficult to sell.

He noted that forward store and beef-type bullocks and heifers “showed very little difference” compared to last week’s returns.

“Potential buyers are getting more selective, especially for the plainer-type animals.”

“The lack of grass due to restricted growth because of the prolonged dry spell here in the south-east is another factor that has curbed enthusiasm,” he remarked.
