‘The suggestion of a price rise by factories is instilling more confidence’

Kilkenny Mart Report – Cattle Sale – 25-02-2021

Some 450 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, February 25th, according to George Candler.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that all lots, especially beef-type bullocks, and heifers, met a “sharper selling trade”.

“Numbers still remaining firm, but all types met a sharper trade, perhaps due to the promise of a better spell of weather. It is also possible that the suggestion of a price rise by factories is instilling more confidence.”

“Quality forward bullocks and heifers also selling very well. Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford-types are selling well, with most ranging from €1.85-€2.20/kg.”
