Kilkenny Mart report – sheep prices – 21-06-2021
According to George Candler, a slightly larger entry comprising some 550 lots went under the hammer at a sheep sale at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, June 21st, 2021.
The mart’s auctioneer reported that lamb prices were back €5-€8/head compared to the previous weeks.
Speaking following the sheep sale, he said: “A noticeable slip in the lamb trade in Kilkenny with prices reduced by €3 to €8 per head compared to last week. Cull ewes continue to sell well with a top call of €193 per head.”

Kilkenny Mart – sheep prices – 14-06-2021
According to George Candler, a larger entry of some 500 sheep met with a “sharp selling trade” at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, June 14th, 2021.
The mart’s auctioneer reported that cull ewes sold to €215/head, while lambs reached €174/head, respectively.
Speaking following the sale, he said: “An excellent trade for all sheep today in Kilkenny with lambs achieving a good solid trade.”
“Cull ewes saw exceptional prices with a top call of €215 per head. Today, cull ewes averaged €148 .81 with €101 being the average price in 2020.”
“Lambs today averaged €148.81 with the equivalent average in 2020 been €114.18 per head,” he added.
Sheep prices:
- Butcher lambs – €3.19-€3.28/kg or €148-€174/head;
- Factory lambs – €3.25-€3.33/kg or €127-€151/head;
- Cast ewes – €68-€215/head.
