Kilkenny: Cull ewes to €274 and spring lambs to €184 in ‘solid’ trade

According to George Candler, some 350 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s most recent sheep sale on Monday, May 16^th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a “good, solid” trade prevailed, with spring lambs to €184/head and cull ewes to €274/head.

Butcher lambs – €3.25-€3.77/kg or €165-€184/head:

• 13 56kgs – €183;
• 12 53kgs – €178;
• 8 52kgs – €181;
• 12 48kgs – €170;

Factory lambs – €3.75-€3.90/kg or €145-€166/head:

• 8 43kgs – €166;
• 20 42kgs – €164;
• 17 41kgs – €160;

Dairy stock:

• Freshly calved Friesian heifers – €1,200-€2,100;

According to George Candler, some 400 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, May 9^th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that all sheep met with a “lively” trade with lambs to €184/head and hoggets to €270/head.

Butcher lambs – €3.40-€3.91/kg or €150-€184/head:

• 3 54kgs – €184;
• 3 49kgs – €176;
• 5 46kgs – €174;
• 15 45kgs – €169;
• 14 43kgs – €168;
• 20 41kgs – €150.

Hoggets – €2.40-€3.30/kg or €148-€176/head:
