Last week’s cattle prices

According to George Candler, just over 1,200 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s general cattle sale on Thursday, March 10th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that plainer-type cattle “may have been a somewhat easier trade” with poorer ground conditions cited as the possible reason for this.

Besides, he noted that beef-type and forward store-type bullocks met an “excellent” trade, while cull cows were “on fire”.

Furthermore, the cull cow ring generated the top price of €2,560, a price that it recorded for a 935kg Simmental-cross, while bullocks hit €2,280 and heifers topped out at €2,090.
