Kilkenny Mart – sheep prices – 08-11-2021

According to George Candler, just over 400 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, November 8^th, 2021.

He reported that a smaller entry led to a full clearance at its weekly sheep sale, with tops of €164 for butcher-type lambs and cull ewes to €158.

Speaking following the sale, the mart’s cattle and sheep auctioneer, said:

“Another lively trade for all sheep in Kilkenny. Prices were €2-€7 per head better than last week’s returns.”

Butcher lambs – €2.75-€3.14/kg or €148-€164:

• 6 58kgs – €161;
• 11 56kgs – €164;
• 10 55kgs – €164;

Factory lambs – €2.80-€3.11/kg or €120-€148/head:

• 8 48kgs – €148;

Store lambs – €2.80-€3.46/kg or €90-€121/head:

According to George Candler, store lambs hit “record highs” at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, November 1^st, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that some 500 lots went under the hammer at its weekly sheep sale.

“The trade was on fire: the words to best describe today’s sheep sale in Kilkenny. The 500 lots on offer sold in record time with lambs peaking at €159 for 56kgs.”

• Butcher lambs – €2.70-€3.02/kg or €140-€159/head;
• Factory lambs – €2.85-€3.10/kg or €120-€152/head;
• Store lambs – €2.85-€3.17/kg or €88-€119/head;
• Cast ewes – €80-€150/head.
