Plainer stores a ‘harder’ sell at Kilkenny Mart – Candler

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 08-09-2022

According to George Candler, some 1,300 lots crossed the scales at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, September 8^th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that quality lots met with a steady trade, while plainer, store cattle were “more difficult to sell”.

Meanwhile, quality beef and forward store cattle met with a “solid” trade, while he said that heifer purchasers were “more selective”.

• Second-rate Friesian cows – €0.65-€1.20/kg;
• First-rate Friesian cows – €1.30-€2.30/kg;
• Continentals – €1.50-€2.65/kg.
