Kilkenny Mart – sheep prices – 06-12-2021

According to George Candler, a slightly larger entry comprising 550 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, December 6^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that trade was “slightly easier” with fewer store buyers operating.

He reported a “good, steady” trade for butcher and factory-type lambs with prices to €172/head.

Meanwhile, heavy, cull ewes sold to a top call of €170 at its weekly sheep sale.

Last week’s sheep prices:

According to George Candler, some 300 sheep went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, November 29^th, 2021.

The mart’s livestock auctioneer reported that trade was “sharper” compared to last week, with prices to €172/head this week.

“There was a small supply of store lambs also in demand with prices to €136 for ewes weighing 39kgs. Furthermore, cull ewes peaked at €160/head.”
