Kilkenny Mart report – sheep prices – 06-09-2021

According to George Candler, a larger entry comprising some 1,100 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, September 6^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that all lambs were easier by €2-€4/head than last week.

He noted that cull ewes peaked at €160/head, while lambs reached €149/head, and breeding hoggets topped out at €250/head.

According to George Candler, a larger entry comprising some 800 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, August 30^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a larger entry of sheep met with an improved trade for “all lambs”, which resulted in a full clearance.

“Cull ewe prices were reduced compared to last week, but all were sold. Breeding hoggets peaked at €230/head. Dairy animals met a solid rather than spectacular trade.”

• Butcher lambs – €2.70-€2.84/kg or €130-€152/head;
• Factory lambs – €2.70-€2.91/kg or €110-€137/head;
• Store lambs – €2.60-€3.31/kg or €78-€112/head;
• Cast ewes – €54-€168/head.
