Kanturk Mart – Cattle Prices – 17-01-2023
According to Michelle Hallihan, some 270 entries crossed the scales at Kanturk Mart’s cattle sale on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023.
She reported that there was “a great trade all around with all types of cattle in great demand”.
“All cattle were making fantastic prices on what was a fine crisp winter morning.”
“Dry cows made up to €800 with their weight. Angus and Hereford bullocks sold for up to €2.85/kg & Angus & Hereford heifers peaked at €2.70/kg,” the spokesperson added.

Cull cow prices:
- LMX – 620kg – €1620;
- LMX – 805kg – €2020;
- FR – 695kg – €1480;
- FR – 635kg – €1300;
- FR – 790kg – €1540.
Bullock prices:
- 5 HEX – 603kg – €1630;
- 10 AAX – 590kg – €1680;
- 3 AAX – 493kg – €1390;
- 2 HEX – 465kg – €1190;
- 2 HEX – 450kg – €1100;
- 2 AAX – 347kg – €990.
Heifer prices:
- AAX – 545kg – €1440;
- 4 HEX – 516kg – €1320;
- 5 LMX – 460kg – €1180;
- AAX – 305kg – €790;
- 9 AAX – 295kg – €750.
Weanling bull prices:
- 6 LMX – 300kg – €890;
- 5 AAX – 285kg – €770;
- CHX – 335kg – €900;
- 2 HEX – 170kg – €405.
Weanling heifer prices:
- 5 LMX – 328kg – €940;
- 5 LMX – 298kg – €815;
- 3 HEX – 190kg – €430;
- 4 AAX – 206kg – €400.

According to Michelle Hallihan, just shy of 300 entries crossed the scales at Kanturk Mart’s opening sale of 2023 on Tuesday, January 10th.
She reported that prices “held well” at its general weekly sale of cull cows, heifers, and bullocks.
Speaking to That’s Farming, she said:
“We had a few technical difficulties due to disruption from the weather, but despite this, we had 100% clearance.”
“Happy New Year to all our customers. It was great to welcome back our ringside and online customers for our first sale of 2023,” she explained.
