Quality ‘guaranteed’ at 100-strong Jalex Genes Sale

If a new stock ram is top of your shopping list this season, then consider attending the Jalex Genes Sale, which will take place later this month.

Over 100 shearling and ram lambs will come under the hammer at the sale of James Alexander, 88 Gloverstown Road, Randalstown, on Friday, August 19th, 2022.

The selection of rams on offer mainly comprises Suffolks – 60 shearlings and 20 strong ram lambs.

There will also be a “first-class” selection of NC Park Cheviot shearlings, Aberfield, Suff x Tex and Suff x Blue Leicester shearlings.

Speaking to That’s Farming ahead of the sale, which will see James Little of H&H officiate as auctioneer at, Alexander said:

“Quality is guaranteed at the Jalex Gene Ram Sale with a fantastic lineup of shearling and ram lambs to suit commercial and pedigree sheep producers alike.”

“Buy with confidence as all rams are MV accredited and scrapie monitored. For those wishing to purchase from UK and ROI, all rams are available for immediate export.”

Sheep sale

James Alexander and his team held its fourth annual on-farm Jalex Flock Gimmer Sale at 88 Gloverstown Road, Randalstown, on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, at 7 pm.

A mix of females – all of which are Enzo and Toxo vaccinated – were on offer, including:

  • Suffolk-cross-Cheviot Mules;
  • Suffolk-cross-Cheviot;
  • Cheviot Mules;
  • Texel-cross-Mules;
  • Texel-cross-Suffolk;
  • Pedigree Texel;
  • Beltex-cross-Cheviot Mules;
  • Mules;
  • Charollais-cross-Beltex;
  • Border Leicester.

Ahead of the sale, organisers said:

“This is now one of the most popular venues as farmers source their flock replacements. Buyers can be assured of the quality right across the 1200 head that will go under the hammer.”
