How many beef calves have been registered in 2020?

Total calf registrations this spring have increased by 78,162 from 2019’s corresponding period, according to the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF). 

1,567,718 calves have been registered in 2020, which is an increase from the 1,489,556 registered at the same stage in 2019.

Pedigree registrations:

  • Week 24 of 2020 – 2,422;
  • Week 24 of 2019 – 1,821;
  • Total registered in 2020 – 65,942;
  • Total registered at same stage in 2019 – 67,455.

Registrations using animal events (AE) book:

  • Week 24 of 2020 – 50,394;
  • Week 24 of 2019 – 42,020;
  • Total registered in 2020 – 1,067,516;
  • Total registered at same stage in 2019 – 1,040,640.

Total beef births:

  • Week 24 of 2020 – 37,783;
  • Week 24 of 2019 – 29,701;
  • Total registered in 2020 – 379,707;
  • Total registered at same stage in 2019 – 354,187.

Total dairy births:

  • Week 24 of 2020 – 42,622;
  • Week 24 of 2019 – 36,019;
  • Total registered in 2020 – 1,188,011;
  • Total registered at same stage in 2019 – 1,135,369.

Total calf births registered:

  • Week 24 of 2020 – 80,405;
  • Week 24 of 2019 – 65,720;
  • Total registered in 2020 – 1,567,718;
  • Total registered at same stage in 2019 – 1,489,556.
