Headford Mart – cattle prices – 25-09-2021

According to a spokesperson for Headford Mart, there was a “great” trade for all stock on 25-09-2021.

• Bullocks sold from €1.66 to €2.86 per kg or €295 to €1065 over the kg. Top price over the kg – an AUX – 735kg – €1800, €2.45/kg (lot 5E). Top price per kg 3 CHX – 437kg – €1250 – €2.86/kg, (lot 3).
• Heifers fetched from €1.59 to €2.99 per kg or €245 to €1040 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a BBX – 560kg – €1600 – €2.86/kg (lot 37). Top price per kg – a CHX – 335kg – €1000 – €2.99/kg.
• Cull cows pushed from €740 to €1700 for a 4-year-old LMX, 720kg (lot 58A);
• Suckler cows changed hands from €870 to €1880;
• Stock bulls: An 8-year-old CH breeding bull fetched €2,140.

Sheep prices:

• Culls went under the hammer from €67 to €146;
• Breeders made from €110 to €153 for 1^st crop ewes;
• Hoggets sold from €140 to €212;
• Lambs climbed from €75 to €160 or €2.27/kg to €3.24/kg:
• 57kg – €160 – €2.81/kg – (Lot S25A);
• 34kg – €110 – €3.24/kg – (Lot S12) – EL;
• 45kg – €144 – €3.20/kg – (Lot S19A) – EL;
• 44kg – €140 – €3.18/kg – (Lot S18) – EL;
• 39kg – €123 – €3.15/kg – (Lot S3A);
• 45kg – €140 – €3.11/kg – (Lot S23);
• 35kg – €105 – €3.00/kg – (Lot S22A).

Weanling prices 24-09-2021:

• Weanling heifers traded from €1.71 to €3.85 per kg or €225 to €850 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 350kg – €1200 – €3.43/kg (lot 9T). Top price per kg – a CHX – 270kg – €1040 – €3.85/kg, (lot 9J).
• Weanling bulls climbed from €2.05 to €4.24 per kg or €405 to €1070 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 330kg – €1400, €4.24/kg (lot 20A). Top price per kg – a CHX – 310kg – €1230 – €3.97/kg (lot 20B).

Last week’s sale

According to a spokesperson, Headford Mart’s annual show and sale attracted a “large turnout” of cattle on 18-09-2021.

• Bullocks sold from €1.89 to €3.07 per kg or €275 to €1245 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a LMX – 875kg – €2120, €2.42/kg (lot 20A). Top price per kg – a pair of CHX – 352kg – €1080 – €3.07/kg (lot 16C);
• Heifers climbed from €1.82 to €3.87 per kg or €295 to €1335 over the kg. Top price over the kg and per kg – a LMX – 465kg – €1800 – €3.87/kg (lot 42AA);
• Cull cows went under the hammer from €360 to €1940 for a 10-year-old SI, 910kg (lot 63C).

Sheep prices:

• Breeders changed hands from €106 to €146 for 1^st crop ewes;
• Hoggets clicked from €145 to €220;
• Cullstraded from €50 to €125.
