Pippa Hackett has been appointed as a Super Junior Minister for Agriculture.
The Co. Mayo native will take on the role of Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine with responsibility for land use and biodiversity.
Hackett will attend Cabinet but does not have a vote.
The senator holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Essex, a postgraduate diploma from University College Dublin, and a PhD from University of Limerick.
She lives on a 200-acre mixed organic farm (suckler cows, sheep, poultry and horses) with her husband, Mark, and four young children, near Geashill in Co Offaly.
