Livestock Live Software Limited has, this week, released its LSL farm management’ app across Ireland.
A spokesperson for the company told this publication that the “all-encompassing” app has no subscription fee and is free-to-use.
The app is approved and certified by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM)’s Animal Identification and Movement (AIM).
There are a “multitude” of options within the app to manage a farm, herd and supplies.
“Starting with the ‘Farm Monitor’ icon, which enters the user into the farm and herd management area and leads on to areas, such as ‘Herd’, where you can manage the herd, synchronise with AIM, record animal movements and has a handy paperless calf registration option.”
“The ‘pharmaceuticals’ section records remedy purchases, store supplies and the administration of remedies.”
Additional animal information, such as weights, can also be included for current and reference use.
“If you would like to manage a paddock with the app, it has a section for spray and sprayers, and an area for feedstocks, prices and usage.”
For the management side of the farm, the company explained, there are reports you can run to enable your business to run efficiently and in line with the required compliance for inspections, including remedy withdrawal periods and herd information.
Farmers wishing to use the LSL farm management app are required to register their herd number within the app to verify with AIM and switch to the Livestock Live Limited in agfood.
“LSL has made this process simple with the click of a few buttons.” the company spokesperson added.
“For the ease of use, the app uses mobile phone technology to allow the camera to be used as a scanner for animal passport bar codes, including within the paperless calf registration for AIM.”
“This can be utilized for remedy/drug bar codes so that they can be added to the ‘Pharmaceuticals or Remedy Store’ area.”
“Whilst on the subject of tech, all data is securely backed up to the cloud to ensure you never lose data, even if you lose your phone.”
LSL also offers livestock mart clients access to their mart account via a mobile app. The mart software allows farmers to access their mart account, statements, animal/lot purchases and sales via a “secure” login on the app.
“Some marts using the software have seen office traffic and queues drop by 50% as invoices, sales confirmations and pass-out receipts are available live on the app for the mart clients.”
“The success and high volume of users of the mart app function prompted the company to develop and offer the farm management functionality, with further features being added in 2020.” the spokesperson added.
“The LSL app seems set to become the first one-stop solution for the livestock industry, whether buying or selling at a mart or simply managing livestock on the farm.” the spokesperson concluded.
The LSL app is available to download via Apple Store or Google Play for Android – more information can be found here.
