‘Fast and furious’ online bidders at Kilkenny Mart

Some 650 entries were presented for sale at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday (November 19th), according to George Candler.

Quality store bullocks met a “flying trade” with a top call of €2.60/kg. “A very fast selling trade in Kilkenny with online bidders responding in a fast and furious manner.”

“All types met a good trade but the most popular were forward continental bullocks and heifers plus a limited number of beef types.”

“Also, Hereford types met a good selling trade in both bullock and heifer ring,” Candler added.

  • 600kgs – €1.70-€2.40/kg or €1,080-€1,595/head;
  • 500-600kgs – €1.70-€2.46/kg or €840-€1,400/head;
  • 400-500kgs – €1.60-€2.60/kg or €680-€1,180/head;
  • <400kgs – €1.60-€2.55/kg or €550-€980 over.
Cull cows:
  • Friesians – €0.75-€1.60/kg;
  • Continentals – €1.30-€1.80/kg.
  • Beef-types – €1.90-€2.26/kg or €1,050-€1,580/head;
  • Forward stores – €1.85-€2.40/kg or €920-€1,190/head;
  • Light stores – €1.65- €2.29/kg or €500-€880/head.
