This week’s farming weather forecast from Met Éireann for March 2021:
It will be mostly cloudy today (Monday, March 8th), with patches of drizzle and rain, according to Met Éireann.
Temperatures will reach between 7 to 11 degrees in light to moderate south-west winds.
Windy and wet conditions will prevail tonight, although most areas will become dry by morning, except for south-eastern counties.
Temperatures will drop between 3 to 6 degrees tonight, with mist and fog patches to form in places.
Tuesday
According to the national forecaster, it will be mostly cloudy and dry to start with rain to push into the west in the afternoon. Rain will become widespread in the early evening, heavy at times, particularly in the west of the country.
Temperatures will climb between 8 to 11 degrees, becoming gusty, reaching near gale force at times on western and north-western coasts.
It will be wet and windy overnight, with rain to continue throughout the night.
Clear spells will develop, mainly over the northern half of Ireland, with lows of 3 to 6 degrees.
Wednesday
According to Met Éireann, it will be mainly dry to begin on Wednesday morning, with sunny spells before rain sets in, in the west and south through the morning.
Rain will become more widespread during the afternoon, with some heavy falls at times. Once again, it will become rather windy, with fresh to strong and gusty south-westerly through the day.
Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday night with fresh to strong and gusty south-west to west winds.
There will be further spells of rain overnight, with heavy squally showers, some of hail and thunder.
Thursday
It will remain windy on Thursday, with widespread squally showers, some of hail and thunder, to continue.
Temperatures will reach between 7 to 10 degrees during the day, with lower values of 2 to 4 degrees during the night. Widespread showers will continue with a risk of thunder and hail.
Friday
According to the national forecaster, Friday will bring a mix of sunny spells and further showers.
Showers will become more persistent and heavy in the evening, with highs of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh south-west to west winds.
