€675 for Charolais bull calf at Ennis Mart

Ennis Mart report – cattle prices – 27-04-2021

According to a spokesperson, over 900 lots went under the hammer at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, April 27th, 2021.

They noted that calf numbers “held steady” with over 200 on offer, mostly beef breeds with “very few Friesians on offer”.

Friesian bulls made from €75 to €110, while Aberdeen-Angus-cross calves ranged from €125 to €290.

Furthermore, Hereford-cross calves pushed from €110 to €380, and continental calves went under the hammer from €125 to €675 for a Charolais bull.

“More dairy stock again, and these made €1,420 to €2,100. Again, some great pairs in the suckler ring and these made to €2,200. In-calf made to €1,510. “

“Quite a number of autumn-born weanlings again, and it seems to be very early for these to be appearing. Trade for the plainer lots of heifers was a bit easier, but the quality lots were still a great trade,” the spokesperson added.
