Report: Prices from €5 to €3,440 at Ennis Mart

Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 14-03-2023

According to a spokesperson, just under 950 lots came under the hammer at Ennis Mart’s cattle sale on Tuesday, March 14^th, 2023.

They reported that pairs in the suckler ring peaked at €3,320, and a clearance entry of 14 cows and calves levelled at €3,040.

In-calf lots in this ring made to €3,440 for a pedigree Limousin 5-year-old.

The spokesperson explained: “Some great prices achieved in the bull weanlings and heifers hit €4.03/kg and bulls hit €4.42/kg.  A 99% clearance was achieved, reflecting the trade.”

“Calves were bigger than normal, and the lack of shipping impacted the Friesian bull calves, and some of these sold down as low as €5.“

“However, some of the better Friesian bulls made to €175 for stronger calves. Again, a similar story with Aberdeen Angus calves with light cross-bred calves ranged from €10 to €50 and the better lots sold to €190.”

“Hereford-cross calves made to €390, and dairy stock ranged from €1,160 to €2,060 at Tuesday’s sale,” the spokesperson added.
