‘Mixed’ demand for store lambs at Ennis

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, over 750 lots changed hands at its sheep sale on Monday, October 10^th, 2022.

They reported that trade was “very much similar” to the previous weeks with better-quality type lambs from €2.60-€2.80/kg.

The spokesperson added: “Numbers of store lambs were not big and demand for these was mixed. The nice lamb of 38kgs plus was a fair trade, but very light lambs were only an average trade.”

At Monday’s sale, lambs reached €151/head, while cull ewes changed hands from €70-€136/head.

• 4 @ 34kgs – €83 – €2.44/kg;
• 10 @ 38.5kgs – €112 – €2.91/kg;

• 11 @ 50kgs – €151 – €3.02/kg;
• 16 @ 53kgs – €148 – €2.79/kg;
• 16 @ 52kgs – €148 – €2.84/kg;

• 13 @ 46kgs – €131 – €2.85/kg;
• 14 @ 52.5kgs – €143 – €2.72/kg;

Last week’s sheep prices

According to the spokesperson, just under 600 lots went under the hammer at last Monday’s (October 3^rd, 2022) sale.

Lambs generally changed hands from €2.60-€3.00/kg, while cull ewes fetched from €45-€125 and store lambs climbed from €2.60-€2.99/kg.

The spokesperson noted that “trade for lambs just about held its own on the week”.

• 8 @ 36.5kgs – €109 – €2.99/kg;
• 10 @ 37.5kgs – €102 – €2.72/kg.

• 13 @ 47kgs – €129 – €2.74/kg;
• 10 @ 50kgs – €141 – €2.82/kg;
• 8 @ 50kgs – €139 – €2.78/kg;

• 11 @ 44kgs – €126 – €2.86/kg;
• 25 @ 47kgs – €141 – €3.00/kg.
