Hoggets ‘very scarce’ at Ennis Mart

Ennis Mart report – sheep prices – 10-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, just over 500 lots were on offer at Ennis Mart on Monday, May 10th, 2021.

They noted that lambs sold for up to €178/head, whilst most fell into the €160-€174/head price bracket.

“Hogget numbers very scarce. Cull ewes met a very strong trade yet again and made to €174 and a strong entry of these also,” the spokesperson concluded.

Lamb prices:

  • 10 45kgs – €168 – €3.73/kg;
  • 6 49.5kgs – €178 – €3.99/kg;
  • 12 47.5kgs – €175 – €3.68/kg;
  • 5 50.5kgs – €174 – €3.44/kg;
  • 14 51.5kgs – €170 – €3.30/kg;
  • 12 45kgs – €170 – €3.77/kg;
  • 10 45kgs – €168 – €3.73/kg;
  • 7 47.5kgs – €168 – €3.54/kg.

Ennis Mart report – sheep prices – 03-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, again, some 500 lots went under the hammer at the mart’s weekly sheep sale on Monday, May 3rd, 2021.

“Some great sheep on offer, especially in the spring lamb and cull ewe section.  Cull ewes were a great trade yet again but some very good ewes about and these made to €166. Ewes with pairs at foot made to €257,” the spokesperson added.

Spring lamb prices:

  • 12 50kgs – €179 – €3.58/kg;
  • 11 52.5kgs – €169 – €3.22/kg;
  • 11 51kgs – €166 – €3.25/kg;
  • 7 48kgs – €168 – €3.57/kg;
  • 10 46kgs – €163 – €3.54/kg;
  • 4 51kgs – €170 – €3.33/kg.

Hogget prices:

  • 4 58.5kgs – €162 – €2.77/kg;
  • 4 53kgs – €161 – €3.04/kg;
  • 10 58kgs – €95 – €2.50/kg;
  • 3 49kgs – €137 – €2.80/kg.
