Drug Seizure in Sligo
Gardaí in Sligo have seized over €33,000 worth of drugs from rural parts of the county following searches in recent days.
Gardaí conducted the searches on Sunday, May 15th, Monday, May 16th and Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the county.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, said:
“Personnel attached to Sligo Garda Station conducted a series of searches in the Coolooney, Ballisodare and Ballintogher areas of Sligo on May 15th, 16th, and 17th. Three premises were searched.”
“As a result, cannabis, with a value of €20,500 and cocaine. with a value of €13,000.00 (subject to analysis) and a sum of cash, were seized.”
“The drugs will be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson concluded.
According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Sligo, Gardaí also seized an unlicenced firearm.
Galway
Meanwhile, earlier this month, we reported that Gardaí have arrested two people and seized over €76,000 worth of drugs.
As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search in Dunmore, Co. Galway on Tuesday, May 10th.
Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:
“Gardaí, who carried out the search under warrant, discovered an underground bunker at the premises.”
“Cannabis plants worth €52,800 and cannabis herb valued at €11,500 was seized.”
“A woman (60s) and man (30s) were both arrested at the scene. They are currently detained at Galway Divisional Headquarters under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.”
