Kerry shooting incident: Sheep farmer and ag contractor worker dead

Three people have died after a suspected double murder-suicide in Co Kerry.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal shooting incident, which occurred in a rural property in the county’s north on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síóchána, said:

“Gardaí in Listowel are currently at the scene of an incident at a domestic residence in North County Kerry, this evening, Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.”

“Gardaí attended a scene and located the body of a female (60s) and a male (20s) inside the dwelling.”

“The body of a male (60s) was discovered outside at the rear of the dwelling. All three bodies have gunshot wounds. A firearm has been recovered at the scene.”

“The state pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been contacted. The scene is currently preserved, and investigations are ongoing.”

An Garda Síochána confirmed it is not looking for any other person in relation to this incident at this time.

RTÉ reports that the older man was a sheep farmer and former bus and truck driver. Meanwhile, it reports that the younger man worked with agricultural contractors in the area.

Woman (60s) killed in single-vehicle tractor crash

A woman, aged in her 60s, has died in a single-vehicle tractor crash in the UK.

The incident, involving the Renault tractor, occurred in West Dorset, near Corscombe, on Monday, September 6th, 2021.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

“Dorset Police received a report at 9.06 pm on Monday, September 6th, 2021 of a single-vehicle collision involving a yellow Renault tractor, which was equipped with a front end loader and a rear fitted hay bobber, on Hackney near Corscombe.”

“The driver of the tractor – a local woman aged in her 60s – was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.”

Police put road closures in place to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and to examine the scene.

Police Sergeant Rhys Griffiths of the traffic unit said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who very sadly died.”
