A letter from a young dairy, beef and suckler farmer has inspired Derek Ryan’s latest self-penned single, The Cows on the Hill, the country music sensation has revealed.
Oisín wrote a letter to Ryan, saying he “would love if you could make a song about cows”.
He said: “I love your songs, especially Life is A River and Thank God for The Farmers”.
“I bet you are wondering what I do. I am a suckler, beef and dairy farmer with 52 dairy cows and 16 suckler cows.”
“Every year during summer, we are all baling silage. My favourite tractor is green and big; it is a John Deere,” he told Ryan.
In response, Ryan said: “I was delighted to receive your lovely letter.”
“Thank you for telling me all about your wonderful life as a farmer. You must be very busy looking after all the cows.”
“Your John Deere tractor sounds amazing. You will be happy to read; your letter has inspired me to write a song about cows about it is going to be the next single. It is called ‘The Cows on the Hill’. I hope you like it.”
The singer/songwriter – who has several chart-topping albums – launched the official music video for the track on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022.
The release follows his success with You’re Some Girl, which he recorded earlier this year to coincide with his “most successful” concern tour since he formed his band over one decade ago.
The Cows on the Hill is available on all music streaming platforms, including YouTube and Spotify.
Meanwhile, in recent weeks, popular singer-songwriter, trucker and agricultural contractor, Marty Mone, released his latest self-penned single, Spirit Ship.
