Covid-19: Tractor cab window/door notice for ag contractors

The Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, has confirmed to the Farm Contractors of Ireland (FCI) that contractors can continue to work this week, as reported by us here.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the association said: “We are facing into the first week where most workers have been advised to stay at home until April 12, while farm and forestry contractors are among the list of essential businesses, as you have an important part to play – either directly or indirectly in crop and animal production and related activities on Irish farms.”

“In order to prevent unnecessary stoppages on public roads, as you carry out these essential farming activities, we have a suggested tractor cab window/door notice, which we suggest you might print before machines leave your yard, for each tractor and machine cab in the short-term.”

More ‘precise’ information

The spokesperson said that this should be utilised until it secures supplies of more durable stickers and more “precise information” from An Garda Síochána and the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine.

“We hope that you find these useful and if you require your membership number, please text FCI on 087-7551111 and we will text it back to you.”

“You will find your membership number on the reverse side of your membership card for 2019 and 2020 membership renewals.”

“Please adhere to all public health guidelines and keep your machines and drivers safe using advice already supplied.” the spokesperson added.

The FCI said it will provide its members with further information as it becomes available. “We understand that there are still some outstanding issues to be sorted out.”
