22.5ac farm with renovation potential of existing cottage for €350k

Co Meath Cottage

Town & Country Property Ireland has placed Cooleighter Farm, Drumcree, Co Meath, on the market with an asking price of €350,000.

According to the agents, this is a 22.5-acre plot of “fine” pasture in the Westmeath Lake district with an existing one-bedroom cottage with the walled remains of a semi-detached original stone cottage still standing and outbuildings.

According to the agent, the cottage has been “built for purpose” with a large open plan kitchen/living area and reclaimed open hearth, as well as a “sizeable and bright” bedroom with a tiled bathroom/ensuite.

Furthermore, the site also contains a late 19th-century derelict-cut stone cottage. The agent suggested that the successful purchaser could restore this into a “beautiful” period rural home.

The property is in two lots of c.11-acres apiece with the separate dwellings on an allotment apiece.

Furthermore, the agent suggested the purchaser could double the cottages’ footprint through renovation (adjacent stone cottage walls) even before adding any desired extensions.

In addition, the property has two partially constructed outbuildings comprising an:

  • Old shed;
  • Block-built tack rooms;
  • A large Steeltech farm shed.

The agent commented:

“While this property would need a full restoration, its picturesque situation, quaint retained front garden walls, and beautiful original stonework would offer the chance to create a stunning home for those looking to restore and recreate a slice of rural heaven.”

“The property is ideally located along a private tree-lined laneway with gated access.”

Local area amenities include forest walks, a stone’s throw from your property, fishing/angling on Lake Adeel and boating and wildlife activities at Lough Lene.

Collinstown is only 5-minutes away, housing the most immediate shops and services and St. Mary’s National School.

Lately, Cooleighter Farm is only 20-minutes from Mullingar town, 35-minutes to Trim and 60 minutes from Dublin City.
