Castlerea Mart – 25-05-2023 – Cattle Prices
According to Brendan Egan, over 600 animals came under the hammer at Castlerea Mart’s general cattle sale on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.
The mart manager reported that there was “no major change in trade or prices as we head for the month of June”.
Bullocks soared to €2190, heifers topped out at €2030 with “exceptional” demand for quality lighter stores, while weanling heifers maxed out at €2230 (285kgs – BB – €7.82/kg).
Meanwhile, dry cows pushed up to €2160, while cows with calves at foot sold to €2300.
