Castlerea Mart – cattle prices – 28-10-2021
According to Brendan Egan, deteriorating weather and ground conditions resulted in larger numbers of stock at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, October 28th, 2021.
The mart manager reported that “trade held reasonably well considering the large amount of stock on offer”.
“Plainer-type stock tended to be harder sold but quality stock remained a good trade. The heifer rings reported a similar trade to last week aided by Northern demand and strong farmer activity.”
“The weanling rings reported a good clearance with the heifer weanlings, in particular, in strong demand. Top lots made up to €4.52/kg, while bulls peaked at €4.42/kg.”
“Cows with calves at foot made up to €2,000, while springers hit the €2,000 mark and dry cows peaked at €2,140,” Egan added.

He reported that “trade relatively unchanged from previous weeks with a good clearance taking place”.
