Castlerea Mart – Cattle Prices – 26-05-2022
According to Brendan Egan, some 600 cattle came under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, May 26th, 2022.
According to the mart manager, trade held “extremely well with a good attendance of buyers present in all three rings anxious to source stock”.
The weanling rings witnessed an “excellent clearance” while the calf trade witnessed improved prices this week,
Forward stores in both the bullock and heifer rings attracted “a lot” of attention this week with bullocks to €2,370, heifers to €2,440, suckler pairs to €2,400 and dry cows to €2,540.

- Springers went under the hammer from €710 to €1880.
Calf prices:
According to Egan, 65 calves went under the hammer with “good” demand from farmers, exporters, and agents. Lots made from €1 to €570 for a Charolais bull.
