Castlerea Mart – cattle prices – 25-11-2021

“A sharper trade all-round with a slight increase in cattle numbers” was how Brendan Egan summed up Castlerea Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, November 25^th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that weanling bulls reached €3.75/kg, while weanling heifers peaked at €4.23/kg, a price that was paid for a 300kg Limousin.

Meanwhile, the heifer ring reported “a similar tone with increased demand for all lots on offer”.

“Dry cows, with good numbers on offer, peaked at €2.43/kg, with cows making up to €1,960.”

“Cows with calves at foot made up to €2,000 and springers sold for up to €1650.”

“The runner ring noticed the biggest price improvements this week with an excellent clearance taking place and lots fetching up to €900.”
