Castlerea Mart report – cattle prices – 24-06-2021
According to Brendan Egan, Castlerea Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, June 24th, attracted some 500 entries.
He reported that there was “no sign of prices decreasing, in fact, prices were improved upon from last week”
The mart manager noted that bullocks reached €1,270 over the kg, a price that was forked out for €1,850, a CHX, 580kgs.
“Lighter store bullocks attracted a huge farmer interest this week with increased grass growth.”
“The heifer ring had a similar tone with an excellent trade reported again this week both for stores and forward lots.”
“The dry cow trade saw lots making up to €2,390, while cows with calves at foot made up to €2080.”
“Springer cows made from €890 to €1310. The weanling rings are noticing very strong demand at the moment.”
“Bulls made to €3.32/kg and heifers reached €3.00/kg. Fewer numbers of calves on offer this week but the smaller entry recorded a full clearance,” Egan added.
